Alleged arsonist arrested in string of three Hollywood fires
HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA (BDCi) – Police in Hollywood have arrested an alleged serial arsonist after a string of three fires early Thursday morning.

Police suspect 22-year-old Samuel Arrington, of Sunland set all three blazes.

The fires were set within 30 minutes of each other along a 10-block stretch of Sunset Boulevard, police said.

The first blaze was reported at 1:15 a.m at an apartment in the 1400 block of North Fuller Ave., near Sunset.

At least four cars were completely destroyed in front of the building. The flames rose and damaged the exterior of the building as well.

About 30 residents were evacuated all night. Firefighters managed to save most of the building, and the residents were allowed to go back inside early Thursday morning.

A second fire began in the 1400 block of Poinsettia Place just as firefighters were putting out the first blaze. That fire was set in a dumpster next to a three-story apartment building, authorities said. As firemen were putting out the dumpster blaze, a witness saw the suspect set a trash can on fire near a 7-eleven store at Sunset near La Brea.

The suspect has been booked on charges of arson. His bail was set at $75,000.
