Solar eclipse Sunday is here
LOS ANGELES, CA (BDCi) – – For much of the western U.S., a partial solar eclipse will appear Sunday late afternoon.
At an estimated 5:24p.m. today, the moon will begin to eclipse the sun in Los Angeles with the maximum sun coverage to occur at roughly 6:38p.m..
Astronomers and experts strongly recommend not looking directly at the sun. There are several safe alternatives to viewing a solar eclipse, and some of them are contained in this Los Angeles Times article linked here.
Another option is to see the partial solar eclipse is to visit your local observatory where viewings will be standard fare. In Los Angeles, that would be the Griffith Observatory near Hollywood. For information on the viewing, you can visit their website at www.griffithobs.org/.
